Methodical Testing

Overview

The complexity of technical solutions increases. At the same time, software becomes more and more important. This could also represent a great risk. Even small errors in an Excel program could cost millions.

Therefore, it is important to systematically test software and IT systems. Developers and users must be able to thoroughly test the internal and external integrity of software and IT systems.  Test activities include: systematic analysis, risk assessment, test planning as well as compiling test reports (the basis for decision-making).

During the preparation phase we develop the system context together.

Audience

Future testers, Users, Business Analysts, Requirements Engineers

Learning Objective

As a professional tester...

  1. you know  that  it is not possible to test the entire system and therefore,  you identify test cases according to the likelihood of failure detection; during the execution you are able  to assess what has been tested and how well
  2. you are ready to take over: test analysis; design, write and implement test cases, setting up the test environment
  3. you apply test models to create test cases
  4. you apply test analysis, design and implementation in agile projects
  5. you evaluate  to which extent tools can support testing and the kind of infrastructure required for testing
Learning Steps
  1. Basis of testing – Motivation, activities, psychological aspects
  2. Test Analysis: Analyse the test basis, identify test ideas, scenarios, support risk analysis
  3. Test Design: You
    1. create systematically tests
    2. use models to identify test (e.g. decision tables, use cases, state and flow diagrams)
    3. consider black vs. white box strategies
    4. integrate behavior driven testing into the testing process
    5. create test documentation
Pre-requisites for participants Duration
